Reverend W.Wilks is named after the distinguished vicar of Shirley parish, Surrey and RHS secretary between 1888-1919. It is the perfect selection for people wanting a compact, slow growing tree for the garden as it will never get out of hand, and yet bears heavy crops of large green apples. It cooks to a pale lemon coloured puree, light and sweet, and is an excellent apple for baking as its natural sweetness requires little added sugar. In fact, it has been noted as the finest cooking apple of them all - quite an accolade
