Adam's Apple Tree of the Week
    Lord Lambourne
Probably the best tasting mid season apple, begins ripening in Late September. The red apples are crisp and aromatic, excellent eaten fresh but a very good apple to make juice with. The tree is compact with pretty pink blossom. Popular as an Edwardian dessert apple and named in 1907 after the president of the Royal Horticultural Society.

    Adams Apple Tip
    Apple Storage
Keep only the best fruit in cool frost free conditions. Plastic stacking crates are good efficient storage but need sorting through for the rotten fruit, which can be left out for the birds. Eat the early varieties first and store the later varieties separately, a damp atmosphere is good to avoid the apples shriveling up.
